YWCA Works with Venture Crew 7 on Emergency Preparedness
Last fall the YWCA helped create an emergency preparedness program for Venture Crew 7.  It started with the Crew members s being trained in CPR / First Aid/AED at the YWCA of High Point.  Their second session included learning from the American Red Cross on disaster response.  The third session was a visit to the City of High Point Fire Department where the teens learned proper response to fire emergencies.  The fourth session was conducted by Captain Margaret Erga from High Point Police Department where various topics on law enforcement were discussed including riots and crowd control.  The last session was presented  by Mr. Amos Kearns (former US Coast Guard Commodore) on Search and Rescue, where they learned various techniques of collecting data on missing individuals and search strategies.  The Crew participated in an emergency drill in January where they were tested on their skills and knowledge. Congratulations to these young ladies for their work!
